Stamina drains whenever you sprint and only refills while you walk or stand still, so burst across open ground and walk once you are inside a building. Reserve enough stamina to escape when a mimic patrol rounds your corner — many deaths happen because a player sprinted into a dead-end and had nothing left. Holding your breath also consumes a separate meter, so learn how long you can pause before your character gasps and reveals your position.
